Meet Our Team
Alan Fenster
MANAGING PARTNER AND FOUNDER
Alan is the managing partner and founder of Fenster Law. He has over 40 years experience as an Ontario lawyer, practicing primarily in the areas of Real Estate, Personal Injury and Family Law.

Alan obtained a Bachelor of Science from McGill University, following which he attended the University of Manitoba, where he studied for and received a Masters in Science. Alan obtained his L.L.B. from McGill Law School in 1974 and was called to the Bar in 1976.
​
In Real Estate transactions, Alan has represented clients ranging from first time home buyers to sophisticated investors in the areas of residential and commercial closings, including mortgage refinancing, Tarion Home Warrany claims and Title Insurance claims.
​
With respect to Personal Injury Law, over the course of his career, Alan has settled hundreds of claims for clients involved in slip and falls, motor vehicle accidents, dog bites and medical malpractice.
​
In the area of Family Law, Alan has negotiated marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements, separation agreements, and he has represented clients in divorce proceedings, including claims for access, child custody, child and spousal support and equalization of net family property.
​
In addition to his legal work, Alan frequently gives lectures on topics in real estate and wills & powers of attorney to various groups, including agencies and investors/speculators.
Shelby Fenster
PARTNER
Shelby is a Partner at Fenster Law, where she maintains a multi-faceted practice, with a strong focus on residential real estate. Shelby attended York University, where she studied Law & Society. She was awarded the Jane Banfield award for receiving the highest grade in a Law & Society course and was on the Dean’s Honour List, graduating with a B.A. (Hons) in 2014.
Thereafter, she completed her J.D. from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law in 2017 and was called to the Ontario bar in 2018. Prior to law school, Shelby volunteered with Victim Services of York Region and the North York Women’s Shelter.
